In this day and age of changing technology, we find that our patients are very interested in what is happening in the hearing health arena. We like to keep our patients informed and updated when new products are introduced. It is also very important to us that they are pleased with our service and the hearing aids they select.

In order to pass on very interesting and important information, we send out "SoundBytes" on a monthly basis. We post them on our website as well, so they can be read at any time.

Just click on the link to the right. All our SoundBytes are listed here for your convenience!

Things are Happening at AHAC!

One of our many goals this year is to keep you as updated as possible with all the latest news in the audiology industry as it occurs and to be available to you when you have questions about your hearing health. Our way of accomplishing this goal is to provide you with all different forms of communication. A robust website that is kept updated on a monthly basis, quarterly printed newsletters that are delivered to your home, our Facebook page that gives our fans the ability to comment and ask questions, and free monthly Educational Seminars that are available to everyone who has questions about their hearing health. We hope that if you do have questions or comments, you feel comfortable communicating with any member of our staff.

Along with these communication methods, our monthly SoundByte emails are designed to communicate "hot news" directly to your desktop in a very green and eco-friendly way. It also makes it easy for you to share this information with your family members so their questions can be answered as well.

Balance and Dizziness Clinic:
One important piece of news I would like to share with you is that we have expanded our Balance and Dizziness Clinic, now located at our North Scottsdale Office. Dr. Monica Morgan, director of this clinic, uses sophisticated and advanced diagnostic tools for assisting people who are experiencing symptoms of dizziness or problems with their balance. If you find that you have these symptoms, you may have some difficulties in your inner ear. Balance and dizziness issues can happen to people of all ages and should be brought to the attention of your medical doctor, who can provide you with a referral to our office. Just feel free to give us a call if you would like more details about our clinic.

Latest Technology News
The Passion 440 by Widex is providing relief for so many of our patients suffering with tinnitus (ringing in the ears) in a very tiny case. Tinnitus can be a slight nuisance to extremely debilitating. With the Passion 440 by Widex, our patients now perform most daily activities with little or no awareness of the tinnitus and sleep through the night.

The other amazing new technology is the Phonak Smart IX, V and III. It is a very small open-fit device with the receiver in the canal. The technology enables improvement in a variety of listening settings, especially in noisy settings, not previously experienced with other technologies. The Sound Recover, wireless Bluetooth, and Zoom features have opened up a whole new world of communication possibilities.

Walk-in Hour:
Did you know that we offer a Walk-in Hour for our patients? It is held Monday through Thursday, from noon to 1:00 pm, at each of our office locations. We know that sometimes a hearing aid needs to be cleaned, for example, and a patient may want assistance with that task right away. Since this type of care does not require a great deal of time, it is not necessary to schedule an appointment. So, consider stopping in during Walk-in Hour if your hearing aid:
  • Needs cleaning
  • Needs the battery door changed
  • Is not working at all
  • Or has any other minor problem
If your aid requires any programming or further evaluation, our staff will assist you with making an appointment to see your audiologist as soon as possible. It is also a good idea to call ahead of time just in case it is cancelled for that day due to unforeseen circumstances.

Thank you for taking the time to read our SoundByte. We look forward to hearing from you, whether you call, email or comment on our Facebook page. Communications is the key to better hearing health!

Kind regards,

Cathy Kurth, Au.D., FAAA, Doctor of Audiology
and the entire AHAC Team
